Driving Across Lake Como, Maggiore and Orta
The Northern Lakes Tour is a five-day hosted premium driving journey through the alpine lake region of Northern Italy. Linking Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta and Lake Como, the route combines technical mountain ascents, panoramic lake roads and refined hospitality across Lombardy and Piedmont. Designed for drivers who appreciate flow and elevation, each stage balances engaging pre-Alpine passes with curated pauses, boutique accommodation and regional gastronomy. Led by an experienced host, the tour unfolds in deliberate sequence — where driving precision meets Italian character.
Day 0: Arrival in Milan
Welcome to Italy! Your journey begins in Milan, the capital of style. Upon arrival, a private transfer from the airport will bring you to our boutique hotel in the city center. The afternoon is at leisure to relax, adjust to the time zone, or enjoy a first taste of Northern Italy at your own pace. In the evening, we gather for our Welcome Dinner at restaurant near the hotel

Day 1: Lake Maggiore Heritage
After breakfast, we transfer to Spazio The Box in Origgio, our starting hub and vehicle handover location. Our journey begins through the rolling countryside of Tradate and Valcuvia before climbing the legendary Passo del Cuvignone, renowned for its sweeping curves and panoramic viewpoints over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding Alps. We descend toward Laveno-Mombello for lunch before following a scenic lakeside stretch along Lake Maggiore to Villa Borghi, where dinner and overnight await.
Day 2: Secret Lake Orta
We depart Villa Borghi heading north toward Stresa on the Eastern side of Lake Maggiorea. We ascend the panoramic road to Mottarone, where expansive views open across multiple Alpine lakes. From there we descend toward the jewel-like village of Orta San Giulio, on the shores of Lake Orta, where we stop for lunch overlooking the water. The afternoon continues through quieter mountain roads around the Orta Lake, blending engaging driving sections with peaceful lake scenery. Return to Villa Borghi for our second evening, with dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Pre-Alps Performance
After breakfast, we depart toward Lake Como via scenic pre-Alpine roads through Rancio Valcuvia and Valganna, crossing toward the Italian–Swiss border region near Porlezza, where we pause for lunch. We continue along the dramatic eastern branch of Lake Como, passing Valsolda, Argegno, and Como, before reaching our hotel in Malgrate, directly across from the iconic town of Lecco.
Day 4: Lake Como Glamour
Our final driving day is dedicated to Italy’s most celebrated lake. We depart from the hotel following the eastern shoreline as the road winds north toward Varenna with the deep blue waters of Lake Como never far from view. At Colico, where the lake opens into dramatic alpine scenery, we turn south to follow the elegant western shore. Further along we glide through the lakeside village of Laglio, home to George Clooney’s famous Villa Oleandra — feel free to give George a friendly wave as we pass. Continuing south toward Como, we eventually cross back toward Lecco, completing a full circle of Lake Como and closing the tour at the same hotel.
Day 5: Final Vistas
After breakfast we follow the southern branch of Lake Como toward the historic city of Como, enjoying one final lakeside drive as the mountains gradually give way to the Lombardy plains. From here we continue back to Spazio The Box in Origgio, where our journey comes full circle. Our tour concludes with a farewell lunch at Olio, the Michelin-starred restaurant located within this unique automotive destination. Surrounded by an extraordinary private collection of classic and historic cars, the setting provides a fitting finale — celebrating five unforgettable days across Northern Italy’s most iconic roads.
